Lightbulb [*Updated*]Towns and Villages Requirements
Updated for Cubeville 6.0.

Threads will be marked with [Village] when accepted for Village status. Threads will be marked [Town] when accepted for Town status.

Villages: up-and-coming towns, awaiting admin approval

Villages receive official Village status when they meet the minimum requirements.

These are the minimum requirements for Village status:

•A Town Hall must be built•
Make this an inviting place for people to learn about your town! You may have a portal location here, shops, anything you wish. This is a representation of what your village is or will be!
☑ Announcement/News Area
Be creative! Did your village get some new sheep? More plots?
☑ Rules Listed
You may decide your own rules, but server rules already apply by default. Make sure to read the mayors hand book on what you cannot do!
☑ Town Founders Listed
Give some credits to your friends, list all the founders in case people need help with plots and such, and give some credit to members who really helped!

•A Town Center must be built•
Connecting all or most parts of the town (It doesn't specifically need to be in the EXACT center!)
☑ Directions Posted
A functioning center directs visitors all over the village, be creative! Maps, signs etc

•A Town Wall must be built•
This wall must fully encompass the main town itself, and be large enough to keep out mobs. *Islands are exempt from a town wall, provided that their borders are marked. *To qualify as an island, there must be no shallow water.
☑ Height
All walls must be atleast 3 high in ALL areas! Players shouldn't be able to jump over them. If a player can, a mob can.
☑ Lights/Mobs
Keep your fences decently lit and mob free. You can do this with lights, half slabs or glass.
☑ Fully Enclosed
Walls must fully encompass the main area of the town, and be large enough to keep out mobs. Islands are exempt from a town wall, provided that their borders are marked.

•A Town Farm must be built•
☑ Decently sized
Farms must be atleast 10x10
☑ Variety
Who would eat carrots for days? Have at least 2 types of food for your village

•Player builds must be built•
☑ At least 3 founder homes
☑ At least 1 member home

•The enclosed area must be well lit and mob free•
☑ Village Lighting
The full area you wish to protect must be reasonably well lit to provide safety from mobs.

Villages get a full protection, and can subzone their plots are they please. They do not receive the benefits of Towns.

Towns: fully developed areas of civilization

•How a Town vote works•

An Admin will make a thread on the Staff board which will allow all Smod+ the opportunity to vote on a Village. There will be 5 categories to vote on. Unique Structures, Layout, Neatness, Sustainability, Surrounding Area.

•Unique Structures• - Builds and town features that are unique or rarely seen. Such features could be a challenging puzzle for players to complete, an automated piston contraption that tells time, automatic electric lighting systems, awe-inspiring statues, or a unique way players move through the town.
•Layout• - How the roads, plots and buildings of a town are put together. This will measure things like how easily a player can move through a town, or how easily a player can find different parts of a town and set up of plots.
•Neatness• - This will measure how good the town looks. If the town is set up nicely, has nice builds, is pleasing to the eye, and the attractiveness of the town.
•Sustainability• - The town's farm and merchants come into play. This measures how many shops, and what kinds of shops, are in the town or nearby. If the town has a constant supply of materials and food. If this town would make a good place for merchants to set up shops, and if they already have. This also judges the availability of plots to help with expanding over time.
•Surrounding Area• - The area around a town must look decent. While the area doesn't have to be civilized and pristine, the area surrounding a town should be kept free of creeper-holes and be lit well enough to stop hostile mobs from spawning.

Each category will be given a score by each Staff who chooses to vote. This score will be totaled up and compared to a max score based on the number of staff in the vote. A score of 70% must be attained for a Village to receive Town Status. Villages who do not receive Town status will keep their Village protection so that they may continue to improve. Two weeks after failing a town Status vote, you may re-submit an application for Town Status (this assumes that you improved your village during these two weeks). We will start a fresh vote every time you apply.

•Town Portals•

As of CV 6.0 towns can now design their own portal. The requirements are as follows:

- The interior of the portal in your town can be a maximum of 8x8x3
- The hub portal can be a maximum of 5x6(including floor)x3
- The portal frame can be made of any material, it does not need to be obsidian.
- The portal can be any shape you like.
- The portal must have a back wall.
- It should be obvious to players that it is a portal.
- You can choose up to three player heads of founders (including the mayor) to be part of the portal design.

Additional Town Perks:

- Passing Towns (70-79%) will be able to buy a portal for 1,000c.
- Quality Towns (80-89%) will be able to buy a portal for 500c
- Premium Towns (90-100%) receive the following benefits:
- - A free portal from spawn to one location in the town.
- - Biome adjustments for 250c per adjustment. (ie: entire town can be made into a mushroom biome)

RE: Towns and Villages Requirements
When building, we all draw inspiration from different sources. Sometimes, that source is through sites like Planet Minecraft and YouTube. Other times, we like that source of inspiration so much, we simply copy it. Such was the case for something I recently built, the tree fountain at spawn. Though I changed some of the blocks, the finished product looks almost exactly like the source. Therefore, when I was done building it, I placed a sign inside the structure which gave credit to the original designer.

Going forward, the use of designs found and copied directly from outside sources will require signage similar to what I posted inside that fountain, specifically in regard to village and town reviews. Using someone else's ideas or even creating identical copies will not negatively impact your score, but not giving credit where it is due might.

That is all. Happy building! Smile

Real life has never been more Heart wonderful. I'll be away living it.
